Antiparos
The island of Antiparos, a summer resort ideal for peaceful and quiet vacations, located in the heart of the Cyclades Islands cluster, at a very close distance from the famous island of Paros. The tallest peak is Prophet Elia which is found in the center of the island. Mainly barren, the earth is volcanic in origin. In ancient times, the island was green but it seems that some intervening destruction of unknown nature changed all that. Its ancient name was "Oliaros", meaning forested island.
Endued with sheer natural beauty, the island of Antiparos throbs with golden sandy beaches, crystal clear waters and verdurous landscapes full of cedar trees, which shall captivate your sight, your soul and your heart. Above all, the breathtaking cave of Antiparos is the most interesting natural sightseeing of the whole island of Antiparos.
Antiparos Chora
The village of Antiparos (Kastro - Castle), the homonymous capital of the island, outspreads all around the imposing castle, offering an unparalleled view. The stone paved broad streets, the white washed alleys, the flowered houses and the commodious square with the eucalyptus, compose a beautiful icon. The settlements of Agios Georgios and Soros as well as the surrounding islets are definitely worth visiting.
Agios Georgios
If you drive to the end of the island, which takes 20 minutes driving or taking the local bus, you will come to the most beautiful beach on the south west side of the island at St. Georgios. Here you will find a fantastic view of the sea and with a perspective of the uninhabited island Despotico, just across the bay. So, if you are not a fan of the cosmopolitan lifestyle of the much-frequented islands and you are looking forward to spending your vacations at a serene and secluded island of unique beauty, opt for the magical Antiparos.
