The house is nestled amidst cypress and olive trees in the listed traditional settlement of Livadia. The convenient location means guests are just a short walk from Chora, the island’s buzzing main town, and 1 kilometre from sandy Paraporti beach. Until very recently, Chora showed little interest in tourism due to its prosperity from shipping. But today, the beautifully maintained town – with its neoclassical mansions, marble-paved alleyways and four museums – offers an eclectic mix of restaurants, cafés and shops. The house also lies on an impressive hiking route that affords leisurely strolls through a dreamy, natural landscape, as well as more challenging walks, such as the ascent to the fortress-like Byzantine monastery of Panachrantos.
Extensive restoration has gradually transformed what was once a 200-year-old stone farmhouse into an elegant summer home with cutting-edge amenities, striking a perfect balance between traditional and contemporary. The uncluttered interiors have been completely re-imagined and each piece of furniture has been custom-built with functionality and aesthetics in mind. Naturally protected from the summer winds, the gardens, patios and pool area allow guests to enjoy peaceful mornings, blissful afternoons and starry nights with family and friends.
The house comprises three independent stone lodgings - two suites and one studio. Spacious and airy, the main suite is the brightest of the three options. It has a fully equipped kitchen, bathroom, and master bedroom with private sleeping area (140 x 200 cm bed). There is also a large sleeper couch (340 x 90 cm) in the living room. The custom-made furniture throughout is not only practical but particularly eye-catching.
The second suite, atmospheric - even dramatic - and dominated by an enormous rock, features an inviting loft bedroom with 160 x 200 cm bed and plenty of natural light. The living room has bespoke couches that can be placed together to provide extra sleeping areas. There is also a private bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen.
The studio consists of a vaulted stone bedroom with 180 x 200 cm bed, coffee station and kettle and an adjoining bathroom. Lovingly converted from the original smoke house, it is a cosy, private space, perfect for cocooning, which opens directly onto the pool area.
The outdoor space is a joy to behold, with tiered patios, lounging areas around the pool, open-air kitchen, plus a choice of comfortable spots for sitting and dining. Natural shade is provided by the surrounding trees.
