Nestled in a lush green landscape close to the picturesque village of Livadia, this lovingly restored 150-year-old country mansion occupies a privileged spot amidst citrus orchards, olive groves and stands of tall cypress trees. The location is ideal not only for unwinding, but also for walking or hiking on ancient trails in fertile valleys, through small forests, next to bubbling streams, waterfalls and sandy beaches. Andros has an extensive network of hiking trails, one of which (No. 17) passes by the estate. The nearest beach is only a few minutes away by car, 5 minutes by bicycle or 15 minutes on foot along a gentle path, and there are many other sandy beaches along the east coast. Dining out options include a lovely taverna on the nearest beach and another in the village, which can be reached by car or via a footpath. While offering peace and privacy, the residence is just a short drive or a pleasant 15-minute walk to the island's main town, Chora, with its shops, restaurants and archaeological museum. Chora is also home to the Museum of Contemporary Art, one of Greece's most important exhibition spaces for modern art.
The property, consisting of the main house and three independent guest suites, has been fully restored from the foundations to the roof. The architectural transformation has resulted in a luxury residence with all modern conveniences, which still retains all the original features that give it such charm, including thick stone walls, elegant arches, high ceilings, tiled roofs and impressive fireplace. The main house has three levels. On the entrance level there is a comfortable living room with adjoining dining area. A large stone archway leads into a fully equipped kitchen. There is also a guest WC on this level. The living room opens onto an extensive veranda with sitting and dining areas overlooking the lemon and orange groves, private pool and ancient well. On the upper floor there are two bedrooms, each with en-suite bathroom. The large master bedroom has a king-size bed, sitting area and spacious veranda that affords a splendid view of the garden and surrounding countryside. The second bedroom has a queen-size bed and a delightful mezzanine with another double bed, making it perfect for a family with children. At the front of the main house on the lowest level there is a separate guest suite with its own access from the garden. This features one bedroom with queen-size bed, a cosy living area with two built sofas that can be used as single beds, a kitchenette and bathroom. Overlooking the pool area is a stone guest house with a comfortable sitting area and a extra sofa bed, a bathroom and a bedroom with queen-size bed which opens onto a private veranda at the side. A new addition by the pool is a guest house with double bed and 1 extra sofa bed.
